VR training experience in Greece

As part of the project, we developed an elearning and a VR training in an effort to enhance support and awareness for informal caregivers of individuals with dementia. During this activity, KMOP successfully launched an innovative e-learning and VR video pilot. This initiative, part of the EU SupportCARE project utilized cutting-edge technology to allow participants to see the world through the eyes of a person with dementia. The training took place in our offices on March 11, 12 and 14 with a total of 16 participants.

Experiences before and during the event

Before the event, participants completed an e-learning module to get ready for the VR video. This module serves as an introduction to the topic to ease in the participants and share valuable information and knowledge regarding dementia. During the event, the VR experience let family caregivers see what it’s like to have dementia. Afterward, we had a pool discussion where everyone shared their thoughts and experiences openly, providing valuable feedback for the trainers and the other participants.

Positive feedback and future plans

The pilot project received glowing reviews from all participants. Many found the VR video to be a transformative experience, prompting deep reflection on their own behaviors and greatly increasing their empathy for individuals with dementia. Participants praised the project for its innovative approach and expressed a strong desire to see this valuable perspective reach a wider audience, believing it could significantly enhance understanding and support for those affected by dementia. The enthusiasm and positive reactions underscored the project’s success and potential impact.
