Self-care Day in Slovenia

As part of the “SupportCARE” project, on 24 October 2023, we organized an event “SELF-CARE DAY” in Lukovica, together with the Point for the Elderly Lukovica and 19 people attended from Lukovica, Šmartno pri Litija and Litija. The workshop was useful not only for informal carers of people with dementia but also for all others who face similar challenges and do not spend enough time on themselves and their health.

In the first part, we had a relaxing time with Ms Alenka Vidgaj from AVI Centrum, who led us into the relaxing world of yoga with aromatherapy. This was followed by a lecture from the Spominčica Association, where Ms Štefanija Lukič Zlobec presented their mission and the challenges that dementia poses, especially for relatives.

Finally, we focused on the Self-care workbook, designed with the project partners to help informal carers improve their mental and physical health. The workbook provides valuable tools, tips, and practical examples on how to take care of yourself, as well as guidance on creating an individual self-care plan for your journey. Open workbook, also in an online version, fully includes tips, tools, techniques, exercises, practices and content for personal self-care, covering 6 topics: What self-care is and why it’s important; Physical self-care; Psychological and emotional self-care; Social self-care; Taking time for leisure; Building own self-care plan.

If you would like us to send you a Self-Care workbook, please get in touch with us by email at or call us on 00386 1 8962 710.
