As part of the Erasmus+ SupportCare project, the “Library of Experiences” event was successfully held on June 26, 2024, at the Nestor Psychogeriatric Association. The event lasted three hours and brought together 12 informal caregivers, offering a valuable opportunity for interaction and experience sharing.
During the first part of the event, the SupportCare project and its achievements to date were presented. Participants were informed about the materials developed within the framework of the project, such as the Self-Care Handbook for Informal Caregivers, the online training on dementia, and the experience from the pilot application of interactive virtual reality (VR) training. In addition, personal stories of caregivers were shared, as well as myths and realities about dementia and the caregiving role.
The second part of the event was dedicated to an open discussion among the informal caregivers. Participants had the chance to share their personal experiences, exchange opinions, and offer advice to one another. This interaction fostered a sense of community and mutual support among attendees.
The event concluded with an open discussion, where all participants were able to express their thoughts and contribute to a collective understanding of the challenges and needs of caregivers for people living with dementia.
The SupportCare project continues at an intensive pace, aiming to provide substantial support to informal caregivers and improve the quality of life for both caregivers and the people they care for.
